Ghorepani | Poon Hill

The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a popular short trek in the Annapurna region. It's perfect for those who want to experience the beauty of the Himalayas without committing to a longer trek.

The highlight of the trek is the early morning hike to Poon Hill, where you'll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the Annapurna range, including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Machhapuchhare (Fishtail).

The trek typically starts in the town of Pokhara and involves hiking through picturesque villages, rhododendron forests, and terraced fields. The trail is relatively easy and suitable for most fitness levels.

Itinerary

This is a typical itinerary. We can personalize it to your needs and wishes.

Day 1: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (830m / 2723ft)

Day 2: Drive from Pokhara via Tikhedunga to Ulleri (1,540m / 5,050ft). Trek to Ghorepani (2,874m / 9,429ft)

Day 3: Hike to Poon Hill viewpoint (3,210m / 10,532ft), then trek to Tadapani (2,630m /8,629ft)

Day 4: Trek to Jhinu Danda (1780m / 6,393ft)

Day 5: Trek to Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi (1,150m / 3,770ft), drive to Pokhara via Nayapul

Day 6: Drive back to Kathmandu

Highlights

  • Iconic sunrise from Poon Hill: This is the undisputed highlight. From Poon Hill (3,210m), you witness a breathtaking panorama of snow-capped giants. Key peaks include Dhaulagiri I (8,167m), Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South, Machapuchhare (Fishtail), and many more.

  • Golden hour magic: As the sun rises, the golden light bathes the peaks, creating a truly magical and unforgettable scene. The alpenglow on the mountains is a photographer's dream.  

  • Diverse landscapes: This trek takes you through Lush Rhododendron forests. Depending on the season (especially spring), you'll trek through vibrant rhododendron forests with blooms in red, pink, and white shades. This creates a colourful and enchanting atmosphere.
